What are the Common Types of Ceramic Tube used in Industry?

The industrial ceramic tube is a new type of high-tech ceramic material, which is widely used in industry. Ceramic tube is divided into high-purity type and common type at present.

High-purity ceramic tube

High purity ceramic tubes are made of ceramic materials containing more than 99% zirconia or alumina, which usually made into the molten glass to replace platinum crucible because of its high sintering temperature (1000 ℃~1900 ℃). The light transmittance and alkali-resistant metal corrosion of ceramic tube make it used as sodium lamp tube, as well as the integrated circuit substrates and high-frequency insulation materials in the electronics industry.

Common ceramic tube

According to the content of alumina, the common ceramic tube system can be divided into 99 porcelain, 95 porcelain, 90 porcelain, 85 porcelain, and other varieties. Sometimes the Al2O3 content in 80% or 75% is also classified as the common ceramic tube series. Among them, 99 alumina porcelain materials are used for making high-temperature crucible, furnace tube and special wear-resistant materials, such as ceramic bearings, ceramic seals and water valve plates; 95 alumina porcelain is mainly used as a corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant part; in addition, some talc is often added into 85 porcelain, which can be sealed with molybdenum, niobium, tantalum metal and other metals and used as vacuum device.

Advantages of industrial ceramic tube

Compared with traditional ceramics, the industrial ceramic tube has the following advantages.

As a result of the phase change toughening and the micro-crack toughening, the industrial ceramic tube has high strength and toughness. It is known as “ceramic steel”, and its fracture toughness is the highest among all ceramics.

Industrial ceramic tubes have excellent mechanical properties at room temperature. On this basis, we optimized the formula and process of zirconia, and obtained zirconia ceramics with high hardness, strength, and toughness of fine crystal structure. High hardness, high strength, and high toughness ensure that zirconia ceramics have incomparable wear resistance than other traditional structure ceramics.

Ceramic tubes with fine grain structure can be processed to a very low surface roughness. Therefore, the friction coefficient of ceramic surface is reduced, thus reducing the magic friction force and improving the quality of the drawn wire (the drawn wire is smooth without burrs and is not easy to break).
